According to recent research on the service-profit chain, there is a direct correlation between engagement and profitability. For this reason, focusing on employee engagement is a business imperative and a key to improving business performance. Employee engagement is a hot topic, as it has become understood that value is created by satisfied, loyal, and productive employees. Keeping employees satisfied and retaining top talent is a challenge due to changes in the global marketplace, as organizations have become flatter. There are now more interdependencies all around, both internally and externally.
Increasing engagement by leveraging the service-profit chain does not happen by chance. Elite CEOs and senior leadership must focus not only on clients but also on strategies of engagement that promote employee commitment and increased organizational performance.
