Fighting the war for talent with coaching    

The growth in demand for talent over the past few years has seen Long Island businesses search for answers around talent development. This session focuses on the overlap between talent development and coaching and addresses questions like:                                                                                       

  • What is coaching?
  • How do we use coaching and coaches in the talent development portfolio?
  • What success metrics for coaching provide a compelling business case for organizations?
  • What is the International Coaching Federation?
  • What can coaches do to better serve organizational stakeholders? 

Our Panelists:                                                                                          

Lois Cooper, Author, Associate Certified Coach at Lee Hecht Harrison, Motivational Speaker and award-winning Diversity & Inclusion Consultant and Trainer, has 25 years of human resources experience. With expertise in employee relations, change management, conflict resolution, performance management, organizational design and development, supplier and workforce diversity and corporate social responsibility, Lois is a featured speaker for The Conference Board, Disability Matters US and EU, the National Urban League, the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and other thought leadership summits. Lois received her MBA from Baruch College and her BA from American University. Lois is also the current Board Chair for the Urban League of Long Island, Co-Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Council for SHRM Long Island.

Maribeth Kraus is a former business executive, ACC accredited coach and the founder of MB Kraus Solutions, LLC. She utilizes her coaching skills and broad business experience along with the knowledge and mentoring skills she acquired throughout her management career to help her clients succeed in their careers and businessesMaribeth holds the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) accreditation earned from the International Coach Federation, the “gold standard” in the coaching profession.  She holds a BA from Queens College, City University of New York, an MA in Social and Organizational Behavior from George Washington University, Washington, DC, and professional certifications in Coaching and Career Planning and Development from New York University. Maribeth is also a Certified Career Transition Coach an International Coach Federation approved program offered through Career Thought Leaders.  She is the past-president of ICF-Long Island (formerly known as the long Island Coaching Alliance) and an associate of Career Thought Leaders.

Marc Miller, President of MLM Coaching & Consulting, LLC, has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Adelphi University, and a Professional Coaching Certificate from the iCoachNewYork Professional Coaching Program, Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College/CUNY and has earned the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coach Federation (ICF). Marc specializes in coaching professionals, executives, managers, and other leaders on improving their emotional intelligence, and on developing more effective communication and collaboration on organizational teams. He is also a divorce mediator and a Certified Divorce Coach®. Marc is the current President of the Long Island Charter Chapter of the International Coach Federation.

Sayeed Islam is President of Talent Metrics, LLC, a management consulting firm and an assistant professor at Farmingdale State College. An expert in industrial and organizational  psychology, Sy conducts private consulting in the areas of training and development with specialties in training evaluation, training  design, and facilitation.  He holds degrees from Hofstra University (PhD, Applied  Organizational Psychology), Fairleigh Dickinson University (MBA/MA, Human Resources Management/Industrial-Organizational Psychology) and Rutgers University – New Brunswick (BA, Economics).  Sy has been an active ATD Long Island Board member and Past President, currently serving as VP Programming

Stephanie Burke SPHR, SHRM-SCP is Human Resources Manager at Atlas Financial Holdings. With a rich Human Resources background and a passion for learning, she is experienced in all areas of Human Resources including performance management and talent development. Stephanie earned her Bachelors degree in Business  Administration - Human Resource Management from Baruch College and MS Human Resource Management from St. Joseph's College. Stephanie is ATD Long Island President-Elect and currently serves as VP Membership.
